Our new session got off on a high with an excellent presentation from a representative of the relatively new charity ‘Playlist for Life’. This charity was set up by Sally Magnusson following her, and her family’s, experience nursing their Mother through Dementia. It has been proved that by playing to a sufferer his/her favourite music they relax and indeed, in some measure, ‘come back’. All of us at the meeting were encouraged to make our own lists!

As I write this we are looking forward to our Lunchtime meeting on Tuesday the 28th when Ian Gow will speak about his involvement in ‘Aid2Gambia’. Our Christmas Celebration is on Tuesday the 19th December at 7.3opm. Our first meeting of 2018 is another Lunchtime meeting at 12.30pm when our very own Dorothy Taylor will entertain us.

You are very welcome to join us if and when you can - it will be good to meet up with you.

The Choir have had a very busy time from June through to the Christmas Season. We have produced a CD which we hope will raise funds to provide the Choir with comfortable seating. The CD will be on sale from 1st December at a cost of £10. (a lovely stocking filler). We have also been rehearsing for our Christmas Crackers Concert on 1st December in the Church and for the usual Christmas Services we are taking part in. Elizabeth and I wish to thank sincerely all Choir members for their support throughout the year and to the guests who have given of their time and assistance for our concert.

Financial Review

As of the end of October we are reporting an unexpectedly healthy surplus on our general account. Unfortunately, this is not due to any increases in income but rather reflects a number of underspends against budgeted expenditure. Some of those underspends are “one- off” events and will not recur next year.

Our other funds are reasonably healthy not least because fabric expenditure has been modest this year. Not only that but we have received two payments, both last year’s and this year’s, from the third-party trust which makes annual contributions to our fabric fund.
